In the past week we equipped Stanley with the tools to see the world. Using the GPS code, coded and worked on by Alex and Toby, Stanley knows where to go but not without a few headaches. The GPS chip is getting it’s coordinates and is feeding it to the car but the compass is not giving the right directions. We thought the small tilt the chip had on top of Stanley was throwing off the 3D vector. It took an entire day of troubleshooting to find that the problem was the steel axel in front. Earths magnetic field is slanted downward and the axel was causing interference between the chip and the field. The problem was fixed by simply moving the chip away from any metal but right before we were going to conduct the final test……… the battery adapter broke………..@$#%@.
